Electa Essential Concept combines the required ATS functionality with advanced features that make it easier to tailor the system to your specific needs and preferences. The system can be configured in a Basic mode with fewer options available, or in an Expert mode with all functions and processing programs available. In all modes, the system requires fewer keystrokes to operate.

In fully automatic mode, the Electa Essential Concept requires absolutely no intervention by the operator, but provides the features necessary to ensure safety. In addition, functionality has been optimized for non-cardiac applications (orthopedic, vascular, etc.) to ensure ease of use and safe operation regardless of individual user skills. Safety features include:

• Safety sensors such as Clamped Empty Line detection, Centrifuge Bowl Leak detection, Overfilled Waste Bag detection
• One-touch activation of Totally Automatic Mode
• Automatic pump loading and bowl size recognition
• Improved weight measurement accuracy for the AutoStart function
• No false ‘air in line’ messages

Combining the Autostart and Continuous functions allows the system to run automatically. When enough volume is inside the reservoir, the system will begin and a continuous sequence of complete cycles processes the blood. When the reservoir is empty, it stops. The sequence will begin again when there is enough volume in the reservoir, or when the operator decides to intervene to end the procedure.

By automating these processes, the required number of user interventions is effectively reduced, saving time and improving safety. In addition, the system can be safely operated by users of all skill and experience levels.

A wide selection of disposables is available for the Electa Essential Concept, for every situation:

• 55 ml bowl for low volume blood loss procedures. Process blood with as little as 30 mls of RBCs
• 125 and 175 ml bowls for low/medium volume blood loss procedures such as orthopedic and spinal surgery
• 225 ml bowl for high volume blood loss procedures such as cardiac surgery and trauma
• Plasma sequestration kits available for component therapy and platelet concentration that may be used with any bowl size
• Two reservoirs with 40 micron filtration, negative pressure relief valves and vacuum shut off valves to prevent reservoir overflow
